Cut & Fold

marble side table

The impossible made permanent. Cut & Fold presents marble in the posture of folded sheet — a sharp crease running through the body of the stone, geometric planes angled as if arrested mid-motion. Rigid material, the illusion of yielding.

Stone Caught in Motion

The defining gesture of Cut & Fold is its crease — a single sharp ridge running the length of the tabletop, from which two geometric planes angle away at opposing degrees. In sheet metal or paper this would be effortless. In solid marble, it is an act of precision craft. The form exists to remind you what stone is not.

Veining as Narrative

Because the slab is cut and oriented deliberately, the marble's natural veining flows uninterrupted across the crease — a continuous line that traces the fold, emphasising the geometry rather than competing with it. Each piece is bookmatched and oriented before carving begins.

Stone & Finish

The Cut & Fold is offered in four stone selections, each reading the folded form differently. Calacatta's bold veining crosses the crease dramatically. Bianco Carrara dissolves it into something almost ethereal. Portoro's dark ground makes the ridge emerge like a fault line in obsidian. All surfaces are honed — a matte finish that keeps the geometry honest.

The crease is a precision cut rather than a true fold — two angled planes are carved from a single slab and joined at a razor-sharp ridge. The joint is invisible by design, sealed and finished flush so that the table reads as a continuous, folded surface. The illusion of flexibility is entirely structural.

Yes. The honed finish is less susceptible to scratching than a polished surface and does not show fingerprints or minor wear. We recommend sealing the stone annually and avoiding prolonged contact with acidic liquids. All Cut & Fold pieces ship with a care and maintenance guide.

Yes. During the commission process we share slab selections with photographs showing the natural veining pattern and its orientation relative to the crease. You may choose the direction and position of the veining before cutting begins — this is particularly important for stones with dramatic figuring such as Calacatta or Portoro.

Yes. Every Cut & Fold is delivered by our specialist handling team. Installation includes placement, levelling, and final inspection. We operate worldwide through certified partners.
